that sought to improve health care delivery and awareness of preventive
medicine. As a health consultant, she serves as a professional resource in
natural therapies for the promotion and maintenance of health and wellness.
According to Dr. Byrd-Vaughn, "Naturopathic medicine is the natural path to
wellness because it offers complete care for the whole person - mind, spirit
and body. Natural therapies address people, not diseases, and empowers
people to take responsibility for their own health and well being, therefore
creating a greater sense of satisfaction and true healing with health care. It
is the missing piece in today's medical paradigm because it addresses
lifestyle. It works hand in hand with conventional medicine."
In addition to this office, Dr. Byrd-Vaughn is a clinical supervisor at the
naturopathic medical clinic at the University of Bridgeport, College of
Naturopathic Medicine in Bridgeport, CT., where she also teaches a course
in medical practice development. She also taught for 5 years at Rutgers
University in New Jersey.
